Guess what?! In 10 short days I will be travelling to the beautiful islands of Trinidad and Tobago to celebrate my cousin's wedding!!! Can you tell how excited I am? In case not let me add a few emoticons and unnecessary exclamation marks :D !!*!&@#&!!!!*$!!! :)
My family is from Trinidad so I've made a few trips to the islands over the years, but this will be my first time bringing my new husband down and also our first time as a married couple attending another wedding.
In anticipation of our trip, I wanted to share four of my essentials for travelling in style:
My family is from Trinidad so I've made a few trips to the islands over the years, but this will be my first time bringing my new husband down and also our first time as a married couple attending another wedding.
In anticipation of our trip, I wanted to share four of my essentials for travelling in style:
Kate Spade New York printed scarf / Topshop knitted cardigan / All Saints leggings / Dexter leopard print flats via Payless [I own these flats in 3 different colours, they are honestly that comfortable!] / Marc by Marc Jacobs leather messenger bag (similar) / Ray-Ban sunglasses
2. Moisturizing products. Lucas' Paw Paw ointment is my absolute favourite lip balm! My girlfriend brought this back for me from Australia. It can actually be used for a bunch of different things, like soothing mosquito bites, burns, and rashes, which is why it is so handy! I am also a huge fan of Philosophy's Hope in a Jar. It's a gentle but effective oil-free moisturizer that I use every night.
1. Comfy outfit. A slouchy top, knit cardigan, slip on flats, and elastic-waist pants are musts for me. Comfort is key but at the same time I don't want to completely sacrifice style. I've learned to dress in layers which is why I also choose a chic scarf for some warmth on the plane and a bit of flair. Now ladies, despite my statement that comfort is the most important factor, it is absolutely crucial to remember that leggings are not pants! For the love of everything decent, at the very least your crotch and bum should always be covered. Others should not be able to see even the slightest hint of camel toe. 'Nuff said.
3. Cross body purse. Between my boarding passes, passport, baggage claim stubs, glasses, phone, ipod, etc. the last thing I need to be doing is fumbling around trying to search for something specific while pulling my suitcase behind me and trying to balance my purse from sliding off my shoulder or elbow. A cross body messenger bag like the one pictured above, ideally with multiple pockets and compartments to help keep me organized, is essential when I'm on the go.
4. A little bit of entertainment. Sometimes I really enjoy sitting back, people watching, and just observing the environment around me. But I can only entertainment myself for so long during a five hour flight with a three hour layover. I try to make a new playlist or two, have a good book on hand, and (my favourite part about flying!) allow myself to indulge with a fashion or tabloid magazine to help that layover pass by a little quicker.
What suggestions do you have for travelling in style? What are your travel essentials?
*Don't forget to stop by tomorrow for my second post of Wedding Wednesdays where I will be styling a super cute outfit of what to wear for your bridal shower!
Linking up with Lauren over at Style Elixir and Kelly from Kiwi Womens Style.
I have always wanted to go to Trinidad. Dated a Trini when I was 19 (many moons ago) but that did not work out so well. Those island men like to keep many ladies in circulation !
ReplyDeleteI did a post on travel essentials (that no one talks about) I bring earplugs, a lint roller, eye drops and an eye mask. Oh and some Excedrin. Eye drops have saved me many times when I had red eyes from plane travel, or the smoke in a Vegas casion (attending conferences) or just from staying up too late
hahaha oh no sorry to hear about your Trini dating experience. You live and you learn, eh? As for travel essentials - eye drops! How could I forget? I wear contacts so they are absolutely necessary for long trips. Great tip!
DeleteGreat tips! I'm leaving for Hawaii in a few weeks and can't wait for some sunshine, although I always have to pack warm for the flight because those darn airplanes get so chilly. I also always have to have some snacks for the plane in case I get hungry. Visiting from the Wardrobe Wednesday link up today :)

Thanks Lindsay! Awesome that you and the Mr. are taking a Hawaiian getaway before the baby comes along! Snacks are a great idea for travelling too (unfortunately I am usually way too unorganized for that and end up having to splurge on airport food).
DeleteGreat tips! I agree that leggings are definitely not pants. :-) I hope you and husband have a great trip.
