I decided to get this tattoo for my 21st birthday (hard to believe that was 5 years ago!). At the time I was getting a bit antsy pushing through my studies and was putting a plan in action to move across the world and teach English after I graduated.
I love the sentiment behind the expression carpe diem. To me it’s a reminder to live intentionally and take advantage of opportunities in life. Do things that challenge me. Dare myself to act on my dreams and not be scared into staying with the status quo. Listen to my inner voice and never settle just because my goal might feel unattainable. Push myself out of my comfort zone and try to be a better person. Seize new experiences as they arise and learn from them. Try not to be scared of failing or putting myself out there, even if it means I might face criticism and rejection. Or sometimes it’s as simple as doing something adventurous and fun that makes me really nervous!

Carpe diem, two little words, that have figuratively and literally stuck with me over the years. It makes me smile whenever I see my tat in the mirror, or if I wear my hair up and someone inquires about the meaning of the words. It's a little piece of inspiration that I get to carry with me every day.
Do you have any favourite quotes or sayings that inspire you? Share them in the comments below, maybe they'll end up tattooed on my body sometime in the future ;) (just joking mom)
